HS2 , Not enough funds !?!

According to the Times newspaper HS2 has not got enough money
to start the northern section of the project ?
Seems since getting the go ahead and starting the actual work
the costs have increased and funds are disappearing faster than
anticipated, so the northern section has been put on hold ??
What have we been telling them ??
Why don't they listen?

Donkeyman! 😭😭

Maybe we don't have all the commercial sensitive details of numerous contract and so can't see why what is taking place could cost much less than invoking cancellation clauses?

Good! Hope it doesn't go ahead. Save the animals and habitat.

It would save my habitat. The planned route will pass my residence less than 100 yards away.

Well I never would have thought it. I have always believed there was no pressing intention to run HS2 up North, particularly the North East.

Hi

How many people will it benefit?

Not many ordinary people, that is for sure, yet they are the ones paying for it.

?It will however benefit a small number of big Tory Donors.

As a high speed route it will result in the rapid transport of goods and materials and as it grows so it's value will improve. With the High Speed link will come a reduction in heavy polluting road transport and local distribution using much less polluting vehicles in the process. There's a whole lot more than just bums on seats involved in this first phase of the build out of a modern efficient rail network.

I don't see why it would result in more goods being transported by rail. Goods can already be transported by rail, but road remains the preferred method of transport. Why would reducing a few minutes off the traveling time make any difference?
