My neighbour is on furlough and is working away on a house he has bought meanwhile his family building firm is claiming furlough

It’s not the same He’s not working on the house in which he is living. but but a property bought to make a profit meanwhile the government ie the tax payers pay his firm which he partly owns to work on his own project .

Well I’m going to say it again this is the most ridiculous thing ever .
We are going to have to pay for this furlough for generations.
People should be back at work and children should be in school .

You don't get to choose to be on furlough!
My daughters have been furloughed, both are going back to work, one this week and one next week. They can't wait. The schools were closed and I couldn't help with child care.
One son in law and the other's partner have worked all through. If there hadn't been government help they couldn't have managed.
None of them have been protesting or breaking lockdown rules.
A lot of their friends are the same and some own businesses.
They and their children will be the ones paying along with funding our pensions.

My son Who has a small business and my DIL who is a key worker have worked all through too
They received nothing from the government .
