To be honest, it is unlikely to affect me personally. If the EU continue to over-fish our waters, if they continue to dictate what we can do with our own laws and businesses, things will no doubt slowly get even worse for the country - but I don't think they can affect me and Marge very much at our age and with no issue. We'll just carry on as we always have done.

Let Boris hand over the country to a foreign conquering power, if that's what he wants.

It would be a great shame, though, that after a thousand years of independence AND having sacrificed the lives of our fighting men in two world wars in order to maintain that independence, all of that may well turn out to have been for nothing.

The only consolation, of course, would be that no-one has actually conquered us as such. Rather, we shall have been betrayed by our own weak leaders.

Sorry to paint such a sad picture. It is still possible that things might go the right way, of course, and we shall know soon enough.
I think we will.
IIRC this "phase" of talks is due to end midweek.
Given the silence in this "phase" and the ever-decreasing time realistically available I would expect a decision by then, unless talks really are very close to reaching agreement.

What heartens me is the knowledge that Boris knows he and the entire Tory party will be finished as a force in British politics if he produces a "fudge".

In either case, France will veto so we are still looking at a no-deal anyway, and "me being me" (an eternal optimist) I'm dubious of the credibility of reporting in the Express anyway.

Saying that, other news is reporting no progress at all - so I still think that the result of the USA elections are the real reason why we are seeing so little lack of progress and conflicting reports in the media.
True Bread, it could well be a case of eye-catching, ''nothing much happening at the moment'' headlines from the DE.
Although I am still fuming over their ''Frost RUSHES to Brussels'' headlines last week, this time I truly hope it is simply a case of selling papers.

Oh well. we will know soon enough.

I too have noticed a marked change in the DEs style of reporting over
the last 3 months or so SG ??
They seem to be more anti Boris now as well as being more anti
brexit !!
Maybe the editor has changed ??

I think the Express, being just about the only pro-Brexit newspaper is capitalising on anything remotely related to Brexit to get mouse clicks and increase advertising revenues.

I see the same story over and over with different headlines and its always "Crisis" or "Deadlock" or "Breakthrough" when in reality it's more like "boring", "nothings happened" and "blah blah blah".

The headline "Frost takes his time getting on the Eurostar to go to Brussels and has plenty of time to spare before his meeting with Barnier" doesn't exactly draw the eye of the reader

Good idea.

I shall be writing to Boris and Mary Robinson tomorrow. Would you send all three pages to them?

Just sending signed letter to PM.

Last line on MP letter; please read the following pages, which I endorse most strongly.

All 3 pages to MP.

Good. I'll do the same.

EDIT: I have decided to send only the first and second pages to both the PM and my MP.
(I changed the wording every so slightly from 'the following pages'.)

I've decided to post mine instead of emailing them. I'd love to see several sacks of mail arriving rather than emails!

I have done all that over the last three years ! And the only one
l got a personal answer from was my local mp at that time Sir
John something or other? Oh and the border force also replied
directly to me after about a month??
None of the replies satisfied my questions?
Good Luck with your efforts !!

Donkeyman! 👎😟👎
