School Choirs

Were you ever in your School Choir? Do you remember singing in front of your, and many other parents at Christmas time? I do and i did. It was 1952/3 i think. I was a boy soprano for a while and regularly had to sing solo in front of parents at open evenings. The most daunting time i can remember was when had to sing Ombra Mai Fu in a huge Church in Croydon. Spurgeons Tabernacle i think it was called. Later that year my voice broke and i sounded more like a croaking frog.

Re: School Choirs

I was in the school choir but never sang solo.

My granddaughter used to sing solo in her school choir and in the school church concert. At Christmas one year she sang carols solo in the shopping Mall.

Re: School Choirs

I was watching some re-runs of 'heartbeat' and got to greengrasses last appearance [bless his cotton socks] but they were all celebrating in the pub as usual - greengrass had fallen asleep at the bar and there was a beautiful ladies choir singing for them [professional I would say ] sounded fantastic but it was a sad moment for greengrass fans!

Re: School Choirs

I once sang in a choir and stood next to a voluptuous blonde and she enchoired - "wots ya E sharp like" - quick as a flash I whipped it out and said " just feel the tension in that"!!!
