Re: Toys R Us goes into administration

Hi

Online shopping is destroying many thousands of retail jobs.

It is the way of life.

They didn’t offer online shopping/home delivery that probably didn’t help them.

We haven’t got a Toys or us over here as far as I know but we do have a few Maplins, they will be no loss I can assure you, Dick Turpin has nothing on Maplins, anything that was say 20 pounds sterling in their British stores was doubled to 40 euros over here, and 30 euros for a HDMI cable, you can get the same quality cable from China for 4 euros post free, untrained staff that hadn’t a clue, sooner or later they were bound to go.

Exactly. Remember the nice old-fashioned individual toyshops there used to be?

I don't remember ever taking my children into Toys R Us, was it around in the 70s/80s?

Another one I could have predicted. Last time I walked in there it was like a morgue. All the shops where I wonder how they keep going with their poor business models have folded. They have to adjust to the way things are or they are out.

My thoughts exactly. Never like the shop anyway but obviously feel sorry for those losing their jobs.

That is why, my children would have been getting a bit too old for toys by then, the eldest was 15/16, the youngest 9/10.
