Wasn't South-West Trains - it was Southern Region British Rail. Perhaps you should have posed that question to the British Rail Board - they were stupid enough to attempt to break a previously agreed written agreement.

Clearly paying out of court settlement was the cheaper option. Expect he will be replaced soon. May needs him for his brexit vote, so for now his position is safe.

People are starving yet we can afford a £33m sweetener. The mind boggles. How has it happened that we do not have state control of the Euro tunnel? It's absolutely ridiculous. Is it some PFI arrangement?

What are such colossal mistakes down to? Are those making such stupid decisions too arrogant to listen to others, does nobody want to challenge them because there is a culture of fear? In my experience poor investment decision are made by those who steamroll anyone who speaks common sense. Too many egos at the centre with not enough thoughtfulness and humility. Nobody seems to be doing their research.

Grayling, in common with the majority of MPs, has no concept or idea what proper experience in a particular field is. His only `work` experience was a few years in the media including the BBC. After that he became a PR consultant for a firm before entering politics.

The only experience he must have gained from working for the Beeb is how to waste other people's money. (Perhaps he should be in the Labour Party? They're good at that too )
