Unwanted Popup notifications

Since the new 'upgrade' to Chrome came along I see regular 'notifications' popping up on the (pop out) sidebar on the right.

Of course, this may be good-old Windows as the cause, but it is a coincidence that Chrome has recently been updated.

I have googled to find any cause, but nothing.

I have also run Malwarebytes which has come up with five PUPs and one malware item ending in FILEVIEWPRO_2016_SETUP.EXE

I have quarantined all of these and hope to have solved the problem.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Not me, but think yourself lucky that someone wants to communicate with you.

I sure I did and turned the Chrome ones off:

Turn notifications on or off

You can set up Chrome to get notifications, like meeting reminders, from websites, apps, and extensions.

Thanks Omah.

I just notice another one: "Kate sent you 5 pictures" from an address: www.onlinevideoconverter.com
This seems coincidental with an mp4 to mp3 app I downloaded earlier today! It's a shame as the converter worked very well, so I don't really want to delete it.

Anyway, I have followed the instructions you sent, and see if that solves the problem. If not, I'll have to delete the app.

Disable JavaScript JBR.

No adverts, no popups, websites run 5 times faster. Bliss.

Re: Unwanted Popup notifications

Thanks, but I seem to have sorted it now. It was just an advertising thing that seems to have come with the mp4 to mp3 converter I downloaded.

Re: Unwanted Popup notifications

Apparently my USB device can work faster. That's what I am constantly being told anyway. Thank God someone told me.
