"Three Stars" is a*song*written*by*Tommy Dee*in 1959, as a tribute to*Buddy Holly,Ritchie Valens, and*J.P. Richardson*(The Big Bopper), who died in*a plane crash*earlier that year. The song was recorded by Tommy Dee with Carol Kay and first released on April 5, 1959, by Crest Records. Richardson a.k.a The Big Bopper who was, at that time, suffering from the flu who swapped places with Waylon Jennings and that Ritchie Valens tossed a coin with Tommy Allsupp to gain the last place on the plane.Re: The Day The Music Died.

I may have been only a youngster but had already sung along to 'That'll Be The Day " and "La Bamba".As you rightly say 'We lost three amazing talents on that fateful day"
