Moon Gardening

Reported in my gardening mag:

"NASA is to try growing veg on the moon to work out if humans could live there. NASA says plant growth will be an "important part of space exploration in the future".
Scientists are planning to send small canisters of veg seed to the moon on a spaceship. The canisters will release a supply of water while scientists back home will monitor plants' reactions to lunar gravity and exposure to radiation."

(Long way to go to pick your brussels).

Won't they just float away? Wouldn't the money be better spent in the third world I'm sure some seeds would help them! Bonkers!

Re: Moon Gardening

It could provide useful information for the future if we reach the stage where this planet becomes very polluted

I agree with you Meg. Man SHOULD constantly be pushing back the frontiers, who knows what lies ahead.

Perhaps when scientists have polluted Earth planet beyond repair, they will have somewhere else to start on.

Re: Moon Gardening

I wonder how many travel sickness tablets you would need to take on the long journey to the moon

Re: Moon Gardening

According to "Journey into Space" the Moon not only has gravity but also underground cities complete with gardens. Jet, Doc, Mitch and Lemmy were suitably impressed.
