Re: Filthy tower
I'll have to break the sad news to my mate, . . the graphics chip is cooked, . . it's on-board so perhaps a PCI graphics card will do, . . I've looked up the prices of these and they aint cheap, . . lowest price is £49, . . I have 2 spare AGP cards and they were damned good ones too but they don't fit new MB's , .. yet another example of planned obsolescence from the computer industry, . . . . they do this regularly to get more cash out of joe public.Re: Filthy tower
It's 02:42 and I'm still at that bleedin PC, . . I have a spare tower and MB and it's loading in XP beautifully, . . I had doubts about the integrity of his HD but it's OK so it must be his MB or even the CPU, . . either way he's gonna pay the price of not cleaning out the tower.Re: Filthy tower
Before moving to Oregon and taking a job with Intel Corp. I worked in the textile industry in the South. I now work in a "clean room", no dust, no dirt. By contrast in a textile weave room there's so much cotton dust the computer form a blanket like thick foam in every area of the computer until they overheat & die. Video monitors in a weave room didn't fair much better.
