Alice and the Bread slicer

Just turned on the TV and watched Alice Beer (Consumer expert) This Morning, trying to demonstrate slicing bread.

It was the most horrifying demo and scared the living daylights out of Phil and Holly who stopped it.

Unbelievable. Did anyone else see it!

Re: Alice and the Bread slicer

Why is it described as an electronic bread slicer?
It looks very similar to the old fashioned bacon slicers that used to sit on the grocers counter years ago.

Re: Alice and the Bread slicer

I lost the top of my little finger in such a bacon slicer.. A customer made me jump and I spun round trailing my hand slightly, zip zip and it was gone!

Such slicers are common in German kitchens ...I will have to check out peoples fingers when Im next there see if they are all intact!

Re: Alice and the Bread slicer

That's nothing - my mother in law used to just hug the loaf to her chest and cut slices off while holding it. I've never heard of anyone else doing that, and the slices were pretty well perfect too. Very scary to watch.
