Of course, you are required to identify yourself in order to use the service.

There then is the immediate connection to you/your machine.
Oh for gods sake! You really don't know what you are talking about. There is a gateway user name and password which are self checking (like your Visa card number and expiry date but more complex) and gained behind another membership name and password as a one off with no record kept. The Gateway site doesn't need any information about you at all.

I am not naive enough to believe that the NSA could not track it down especially as the connection between gateway and target site is unencrypted. But the sheer number of connections makes it difficult for any one without massive resources.

I just looked at one of the many reviews of VPN sites then I chose one which had the features I wanted.
