Re: Paul Heaton

Julie when you say "Buried after midnight" are you talking about the documentary or him himself.

Only I have just looked about and cannot find anything about his death.?

Loved a lot of his music Caravan of Love being the top of the list.

I do hope he is still alive..

Re: Paul Heaton

Apologies no he hasn't died thank goodness, I just meant they seemed to bury the documentary, I'm a big fan of his and knew this one was coming but was sad it was so late. I thought such a good singer song writer deserved an earlier time slot.

Re: Paul Heaton

I hope he hasn't died, he's a mate of mine! Well, an acquaintance anyway who I used to know very well when I took part in music quizzes in the 1980s before he and The Housemartins "made it big".

An all-round decent, honest chap who has never been afraid of taking the proverbial urine out of himself - those witty, uniquely-written songs of his speak for themselves don't they?

I'm sure all the regulars in Hull's Grafton Pub were glued to their sets. I remember when he got his first royalty cheque for "Happy Hour" and he wheeled a brand new racing bike into the pub amongst a cheer of "Flash B'stard!"

Great guy.

It's nice to know he's as down to earth as he seems. His music IMO is brilliant so honest and true.

He's totally genuine, Julie.
he does a hell of a lot of work for Hull and the local scene, but never throws his money about.

Hull is of course his adopted city, he wasn't born there as such but he and the other members of those two bands all pop in and out regularly. Dave Rotheray from The Beautiful South has his own bar on the main Newland Avenue area just outside Grafton Street and still lives local. Stan Cullimore from The Housemartins has his own column in The Hull Daily Mail.
They know they won't get bothered by anyone as they're working class blokes.

Re: Paul Heaton

The documentary painted the picture well then as that's how he came across.

Re: Paul Heaton

Thanks for the heads up on this Julie

Paul Heaton is one of my all time favourite lyricists, and his voice isn't too shabby either

Him and Jacqui Abbot are a match made in heaven, could listen to them all day (and often do )
