Re: So here we are....

Seems a few company directors in the UK have already benefited by buying shares in their own companys when they dropped and have already raised again. Its an ill wind that blows no good

Re: So here we are....

Hi

"The Budget should be balanced,
the Treasury should be refilled,
public debt should be reduced,
the arrogance of officialdom should be
tempered and controlled,
and the assistance to foreign lands should be
curtailed, lest Rome will become bankrupt.
People must again learn to work
instead of living on public assistance."

Cicero, 55 BC

So, evidently we've learned naff all over the past 2,071 years.

Re: So here we are....

Hi

Well now we know at least some of the plan.

We are to become a Tax Haven, Corporation Tax is being cut to 15%, the lowest in any of the large economies.

The BoE is pouring money into the economy by issuing Gilts and buying them back itself, in other words just printing money.

How much it is printing we do not know yet, just that it is up to £250 Billion.

Proposals being talked about, well there are two main ones.

Abolishing VAT on financial services in the City.

Making the Labour Market more flexible.

As we reduce immigration from the EU, cheap labour will cease, wages will rise, making our exports more expensive and less competitive.

To balance this we need to reduce the cost base, aka, fewer labour laws.

Interestingly, none of the contenders for the Conservative Leadership are offering a General Election, they are all saying that they have an existing mandate.

Yes we do have a problem with uncontrolled Immigration.

However it is our fault, we have not been training our youngsters.

It is not our youngsters fault, it is ours.

We have not valued our apprentices enough, we have not trained enough engineers, people like OGF, we have not valued them enough.

I find it offensive that our Nursing Courses are over subscribed and yet we are now offering cash Bonuses for Foreign Nurses to come here.

I also find it even more offensive that we are now charging our own youngsters to become nurses, when previously we were not.

The same applies to engineers and other specialists.

Look after our own youngsters, give them the proper training and proper jobs.

We have not done that, we should have done.

My job is to do the best for the UK, which I have tried to do, in all sorts of ways.

We haven't done that, we have serious skills shortages, particularly in the Engineering and Agricultural Sectors.

Which is why I now find myself on Polish Radio this weekend, reassuring them that we do need their qualified people to stay here and still keep coming.

Jobs which could have gone to British Kids if we had trained them.
Well said Swim, and hopefully your concerns will now be sorted as Theresa May takes over as Prime Minister. At least over time, she will be free of the shackles of the EU to help her with all of that.

If we have the points system in respect of immigrants as outlined during Brexit, then that should work.

What I expect to see from a woman PM is that she will invite women to become cabinet members purely and simply because they are women and not because of their suitability for the job !

Why would you expect that Malcolm my memory of our first female pm wasn't that she was that great at helping women, more like pulled the ladder up behind her.
