Re: We could leave the EU within weeks

Like several others on here, I'm in favour of leaving as soon as possible. If Redwoods strategy would work, then I'd prefer that even over beginning the supposedly necessary two-year wait and damn the consequences.

The longer we stay in, the more money we lose to the EU monster and the more damage they can do to this country.

Do it right now.

OK, they won't agree any tariff-free deals but I have confidence that, as many countries are eager and willing to trade with us already, we should not have any long-term problems.

I've signed the petition already. This is where May will show her true colours. If she procrastinates much longer, she's going to have trouble on her hands and I hope she sees that.

Re: We could leave the EU within weeks

Hi

I am going to make myself unpopular again but here goes.

We have had enough austerity in the UK already, we do not need more.

We need to borrow another £70 Billion this year just to maintain what we have, including State Pensions.

The Government made no plans for Brexit at all, which was incredibly stupid.

We are only a month on, things are moving very fast, a new Government, two entire new Departments set up, one for Brexit, one for trade deals.

They do not even have offices yet, no phones, no staff, naff all.

We have no Trade Negotiators, they work for the EU.

We have very few technical experts either, the legacy of being part of the EU for decades.

Securing our Borders and getting rid of the Jihadists and Criminals?

We need a new Human Rights Act for that.

May has to get it through the House of Commons and the Lords.

Not an easy task, there are many who will oppose it.

More haste less speed.

The impression you give is that we're stuffed if we leave now and we're stuffed if we don't.

So why should we bother? We may as well remain in the dictatorship.

Re: We could leave the EU within weeks

The shameless Labour party is simply seizing the opportunity to try a desperate appeal to the public based on giving them what they want, a quick exit or exit confirmation. It's rather pathetic but was inevitable given the turmoil the party is in.

The situation we are in will get worse while ever the UK does not formally confirm Brexit. Manufacturers and markets are harmed more by the indecision than Brexit itself. Plans that had been made will simply be dropped on the basis that companies don't know if the government will confirm Brexit or not or on the basis that they don't how long it will take.

Government needs to not pussyfoot about with this. Article 50 needs to be triggered now, and then they can take the time they need to plan the withdrawal. Once Article 50 is triggered everyone knows where they are and companies can make proper future plans.

I would absolutely NOT vote Labour into goverment on the back of this pathetic attempt to pacify the masses and spoonfeed them some sugar.

I agree.

And I'd NOT EVER vote Labour into government having seen what they've done to the country before.

Hi

I voted to leave, important that we did, but always aware of a temporary financial cost.

That financial cost needs to be minimised, by striking trade deals with others.

We need to employ the specialist trade negotiators to do this and then give them an office, phones and staff.

I do not consider that six months to get them in place is unreasonable.

I agree that New Zealand have agreed to lend us some, but they are not experts in Financial Services, Pharmaceuticals, Cars and Aerospace, four of our biggest earners.

It is like building a house, you need groundworkers, brickies, plumbers, electricians, roofers.

Specialist trades for specialist jobs.

To put it another way, you don't ask a dentist to do a hip replacement.

Re: We could leave the EU within weeks

Why are we borrowing only for domestic things surely that amount covers what we pay into eu, so coming out will cut our borrowing or even allow us to save money ?

I admit to being financially challenged but I can't see why if we stop paying in it doesn't mean we borrow less.
