Re: Look out! It looks as though sparks are about to fly!

Here is the DM’s comment on his selection to lead the negotiations for the EU…

Another betrayal by Europe’s pygmy tyrant.

Nobody should be under any illusion about Jean-Claude Juncker’s appointment of the inflexible, anti-British, arch-federalist Frenchman Michael Barnier as the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator.

The decision was an act of petty aggression by the European Commission President,, calculated to poison talks and raise needless barriers to a fair deal for Britain.

It was also a betrayal of hundreds of millions of EU citizens, who have so much to gain from a prosperous and amicable trading partnership post-Brexit.

But then what better could we expect of Mr Juncker, the swaggering, sneering, corrupt, boozed-up former Prime Minister of Luxembourg (pop. 543,000)?
Forget the threat to jobs on both sides of the Channel. All that matters to this little tyrant is the European project which has kept him and fellow members of the EU elite in fine wines (never mind that it has cost countless livelihoods).

So how it must rankle with Mr Juncker that Britain appears to be suffering few if any of the dire consequences predicted to follow a Brexit vote.
On the contrary, we remain Europe’s fastest growing economy, while firms - including many such as GlaxoSmithKline, whose bosses signed up to Project Fear but yesterday recanted - continue to invest heavily in our future.

Yes,there may well be an economic price in the short-to-medium term, to pay for our new-found independence. But this country appears well placed to weather any storm Mr Juncker and his henchman Mr Barnier may seek to inflict on us.

It is just a pity for all Europe that, at this vital juncture, the EU Commission has such a pygmy in charge.

Unquote.

As I said in an earlier post…….Bring it on Barnier
