UK exports beyond the EU growing five times as fast

A good sign....

New figures released today (20 December 2019) by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show in the twelve months to September 2019 that UK exports to outside the EU grew nearly 5 times as fast as exports to countries inside the bloc.

UK exports to the EU grew by 1.3% and now total £296.8 billion, while exports to non-EU countries saw growth of 6.3% to reach £376.7 billion.

Over the 12-month period, non-EU markets remained the top destination for the UK’s renowned service sector. 60.2% of UK services exports, including financial, travel and transport, go to non-EU markets and are now worth £190.8 billion.

Apparently Gove will be the new International Trade Secretary in the reshuffle.

This is good news - although Gove is as slippery as an eel, he gets the job done. He also works well with Cummings.

Yes indeed Gove is the right man for the job and he would be my choice too. The UK needs someone of his calibre to promote UK plc in all the right places, then when he has completed his task he can then sort out the disparaging and biased BBC

And a statement that has been correct since 1948. See graph.
The*share of the UK's exports going to the EU has fallen, from 55% in 1999 to 44% in 2017. Nothing new there then. But feel secure in that "good sign".🤔

The problem with reshuffling the economy is you never know when the joker is going to pop up.

You mean "when to play the joker?" You can keep him in your hand and play him when your opponent least expects him to land on the table.
I would be shaken when during a negotiation suddenly gove turns up. You know then that you have been taken for a ride.

Hi

Brexit for me was nothing to do with money.

It will be years before we know if we have made a financial success of it.

In the Telegraph, the BBC is, apparently, strongly denying any bias against Brexit.

In fact, it is saying that they made a positive comment, about Brexit, two years ago.
