Re: Student jailed

Fair enough to me Galty - it was no accident - he threw the fire extinguisher down out of the window and must have been aware his action could kill or injure somebody.

Re: Student jailed

The length of the sentence is immaterial, as he'll only serve half of it. I wish all the rest of the hooligans who did all that terrible damage, will be treated just as severely.

Re: Student jailed

It`s a fact that there does not seem to have been many prosecutions compared to the amount of damage caused on those demonsrations. Let`s hope that more of them are brought to book before much longer.

This lad hasn't just spoilt things for himself, he has let his family down too, the report says he was the first to go onto higher education. His poor Mum.

Re: Student jailed

In the light of recent soft penalties imposed on drug pushers, violent assaults, gbh, robbery and burglary......I think it was a bit harsh. The judge said his actions "could have resulted".....so could the actions of drug dealers, violent disorder offenders etc etc .......and they walk away with a fine or a suspended sentence or are tagged!!! This young man was stupid and reckless beyond belief............... a short sharp shock in a mans high security prison for a few months would have been enough to show him the error of his ways, now he is in prison (we have to pay) his university course is ended (we pay for that as well) and he will be getting a first in burglary, car theft and fraud. Brilliant system.
