Parties demand Commons debate on PM's 'inaccuracies'

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-56888298

The Westminster leaders of six parties will meet Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle this week to push for a debate on what they call the prime minister's "inaccuracies" in Parliament.

The Liberal Democrats, Greens, SNP, Plaid Cyrmu, SDLP and Alliance Party will attend the talks with Sir Lindsay.

The meeting follows the publication of a letter last week, in which the parties called for a debate "to challenge the prime minister's persistent failure to give accurate information to the House of Commons".

The letter argued that the "standing and reputation of Parliament" was "being put at risk by the lack of truthfulness in statements by the prime minister and his consistent failure to live up to the standards" required on "honesty and truthfulness in public life".

Under House of Commons rules, MPs are not permitted to accuse one another of lying - or similar behaviour - in the chamber, which would make any debate on the prime minister's "inaccuracies" and statements difficult.

The ministerial code states: "It is of paramount importance that ministers give accurate and truthful information to Parliament, correcting any inadvertent error at the earliest opportunity."

And the Nolan Principles of behaviour in public life say holders of public office should be "accountable to the public for their decisions" and "truthful".

A Downing Street spokesman said: "The prime minister follows the ministerial code and Nolan Principles when conducting himself in public life."

If a debate does go ahead and a vote is held on any motion submitted, it is unlikely to pass, with the Conservatives set to oppose.
As we know, BJ is a notorious liar who has frequently been "caught out" but his lies in the "House" have, so far, been protected from direct censure by parliamentary privilege. It's unlikely that either BJ's predilection for prevarication will moderate or Parliamentary rules will be modified. However, the PM's integrity is being officially questioned in Parliament - the discussion (and even a debate) will go on the record.

Re: Parties demand Commons debate on PM's 'inaccuracies'

Tony Blair was the first prime minister to live at No 11 - he and his wife Cherie turned the space into a family home for themselves and their three (later four) children.

The Grade 1-listed flat was then extensively refurbished by David and Samantha Cameron in 2011 at a cost of £30,000.

And......

How Downing Street had to fork out for Tony Blair’s astonishing ‘cosmetic’ expenses
TONY BLAIR racked up a surprising amount of money on makeup during his terms in Downing Street - and it was all covered by the taxpayer, according to an unearthed report.

This post appears to be in the wrong thread ......

Anyhow:

The Camerons spent the full £30,000 of taxpayers' money available to him to refurbish his official flat in the last financial year, Downing Street has confirmed.

Officials say no public money was spent on furniture, fittings or accessories.

It went instead on electrical works and plumbing, structural alterations, and painting and decorating.

Downing Street said any cost of renovations above the £30,000 budget was paid for by the Camerons themselves.
AFAIK, no evidence of dubious money sourcing.

Amazing innit?
You get a PM at long last that does (or at least tries to do) what the public voted him in to do and the illogical naked revulsion for him goes nuts.

Not all the public voted him in, or agree with the crazy way he has handled the office of PM.

Of course not everybody voted for Boris or the Tories; we have a few options at every election you know.
But that's how democracy works; the largest number of votes wins.
It's time more people started respecting the wishes of a voting majority and in case you're still in any doubt, the Tories are 10 points ahead of Labour in the most recent poll (which yes we realise is just a guideline but short of actually voting it's as close as you're gonna get).

That's from after the poop surfaced too BTW with people surveyed on Monday 26th April.
It also shows Boris's popularity 13% above that of Sir Kneel, as well as 17% more thinking he is the better option for PM at 46% so it suggests that the public are quite capable of recognizing bullpoop too.

D'ya know what?

I couldn't really give a toss about Boris's flat, and neither I suspect do the vast majority of people around the country
A brief chat & survey among friends & neighbours shows that they are not bothered either - and some of them are definitely Labour supporters

It seems to be only the MSM and the Lefty - Liberal - Remainers who are milking this as much as they can
I also suspect that they're not really concerned about the flat either, only inasmuch as it is a means to an end to bash Boris
