I get on well with many people but I don't have to think like them or attend the same social gatherings!
Personally I think that respect for others comes from having good manners. For example..... if I associate with a muslim lady I would be interested in her head covering and want to know how she secures it. Out of respect I would wear one if I entered her mosque, but that doesn't mean I would wear one every time I spoke to her!
Surely good manners start at home & are continued in school, so everybody who gets past school age & still has no respect for others has obviously been brought up without manners, has not been taught them at school & spends their lives only considering their own wants & needs.... why would anybody want to socialise with them?
Manners Maketh Man = the motto of William of Wykeham the Bishop of Winchester links in with the grace of God & showing grace to other people however they behave. It's engrained in British values. But it's rooted in Christianity.

We have had this conversation already. Humanists have "celebrants" instead of pastors. They are pretty much an organised religion pretending to be something else.

I didn't expect you to agree. Would you describe yourself as someone who has manners and if so then where do you think they came from?

What is farcical is humanists thinking they are superior to those with a traditional religion whilst having their own religion with ceremonies and "celebrants". It's just another organised religion.

I have no manners, I simply try to avoid insulting most silly old bats up even when they come out with a load of boll**ks.

Well that sort of proves my point about religion being the root of good manners.

What on earth gives you the idea that humanists think we are in any way superior to the superstitious? As for "celebrants" in a humanist wedding or funeral the role of a "celebrant" is the same as a toastmaster or master of ceremonies at a formal event and that is as far as it goes!

My life, you REALLY don't know what you're going on about!
