I love Whitby too JBR, it seems to have a character all of its own and is busy all year round with various festivals including my favourite the goth weekends.There's not a lot to do at Robin Hood's Bay but very picturesque, but as you say very hilly!
Scarborough is great for shops, that's all I go there for. Again it's quite hilly, at least Brid is flat which makes it popular with the oldies!

Three years ago we did the Goth Weekend at Whitby and dressed up, it was really crowded. We took lots of pictures and hope to do it again sometime.
