Re: Meanwhile... Spain Starts Being a bit "Wierd"

Hi

Spain is not the only one doing this.

Even with a deal there will be a need for increased Border Control Staff, here in the UK as well as in the EU.

We are ending Freedom of Movement, so will need to log people in and out and make sure they are not here illegally and the EU Countries will be doing the same.

We are leaving the Single Market, so there will be sanitary and phytosanitary controls

Even with a Deal there will be an increase in paperwork and checks.

It is no great shakes, it is just a fact of life.

But we aren't in Schengen anyway

What relevance does that have at all to your OP?

Hi

Schengen has nothing at all to do with your OP or your reply.

It is completely irrelevant.

We are not in Shengen but we do have free movement, which we are to end.

This means a new computer system and more checks, we are only offering Visa Free to EU Residents for stays of up to 90 days.

The article refers to the recruitment of 1700 Spanish public sector workers in the areas of customs and border control.

We aren't in Schengen anyway and outside the EU we would be treated like other 3rd countries.

By guess is that this has more to do with migrants being moved onto Spain because Italy is refusing their landing over there.

Seems rather odd considering Spain is doing this if there is a deal or if there is no deal.
