The differing responses to the outcome of a deomcractic referendum:

LEAVERS

"Let's get on with it and work through the difficulties"

REMAINERS

"Waaaahhhhh!"

Re: Government REJECTS petition calling for second EU referendum

It's really odd that the remainers knew exactly what would happen - business as usual.

"Leave" wasn't a concept that anybody had seriously thought through and is much more complex than those voting "out" thought it was or would be. The enormity of leaving doesn't seem to have really been considered properly. Those that led the leave campaign have just jumped ship, and we're likely to get a prime minster that is a remainer with a majority in parliament that also wanted to remain. What a palaver.

I guess the market and the people would more secure when we knew what was going to be adopted.

It is looking likely that we'll have much of the same - free movement of people, goods and capital but without a seat at the head table. Even less democracy - if that's possible.

It isn't like handing in your resignation from a job you don't like.

It makes us as a nation look a little bit foolish I think.

Out doesn't mean out at all. It means just a little bit out.

Another bleating whinger.

It has been reported that, whereas the politicians of most EU countries bemoan the fact that we are leaving, that appears not to be the case amongst the ordinary people.

Re: Government REJECTS petition calling for second EU referendum

Yup. I'm pretty sure many citizens of Italy, Spain, Greece and other countries would love to be out of the EU. The various leaders of those countries, doubtless placed in those positions by the EU itself, will be desperately fending off calls for their own referendums.
