Key to any successful relationship

I'm talking about any relationship, so parents/children, siblings, friends, couples; what is vital for any relationship to be successful?

I'll start with trust and respect, lose either and the relationship can go down the pan, both and forget it!

Compromise, every time. Oh, and a similar humour.

Humour, trust, respect, and compromise. Also someone needs to say sorry even if they are not wrong occasionally IMO.

My husband and I have stuck it out for 44 years this year, in spite of having nothing in common, no interests we share. I trust him and he trusts me.
