Alligator kills woman

This morning, in Hilton Head, South Carolina, a woman was out walking her dog when the dog was attacked by a 9 foot long (3 meter) alligator. The woman went to her dogs rescue but the alligator was a lot faster than the woman thought it could be.

The gator, grabbed the woman, drug her into the water and killed her. The gator was later captured and killed by wildlife agents. The dog is fine.

One heck of a lot of alligators in the southern U.S. Not at all uncommon to find them in your swimming pool or in your back yard, if you live near fresh water.

Yes I have seen them captured and removed in Key West. All done as discreetly as possible. What a horrible way to go.

Does anyone watch Swamp People - where they have the annual cull?

Isn't that always the case? Someone goes to rescue a pet from the canal or the sea, in this case being attacked by an alligator and the pet usually survives while the owner doesn't.

We may not have the problem of wild alligators in the UK but how many children are killed or maimed by dangerous dogs? It's all relative.

I can fully understand giving ones life for a wife or a child, any child, but a pet ? Yeah, sure, I love pets but not enough to die for.
