Re: Where did your given name come from?
It's a bit of a long story, BUT, my mum was into her Amercian stage when I was born and wanted to call me Roxanne. My dad refused and he wanted a good old Scots name for a wee lass from the Hebrides. Sooo Roxanne became my middle name, when I was at school there were four of us with the same first name in the class and the teacher was always getting in a muddle so she said she would use our middle names to separate us. I became Roxanne and it stuck throughout my life except with my dad who called me by my first name always. It became shortened over the years to Roxy and then Rox, and it's Rox today. I later found out it's not an Amercian name after all....It's Persian and it means Dawn.
