Not so sure I would like one of these named after me, I guess it's some kind of recognition though, which obviously was the intention.

"A newly-discovered species of beetle has been named after young climate activist Greta Thunberg.

Nelloptodes gretae bears little resemblance to its namesake - it is less than 1mm long, and has no wings or eyes.

The insect does, however, have two long pigtail-like antennae."

Maybe someone should challenge the spoilt brat to actually go to one of the most polluting Countries, and protest there, along with all the rest of the stupid idiots/eco warriors and get arrested and locked up for years in a rat infested jail while trying to impose her Hitler type improvisation upon the rest of humanity?

I don't think her mummy would let her go there! She's not quite that stupid. She knows that she can entertain herself in soft Western countries with complete freedom.

With fireworks going off from 10.30 until 1.00 am maybe New Year's Eve celebrations should be renamed Global Polluting Night. The air this morning is foul, rotten eggs. A lot of cloud with no wind, it is pervading.

Re: Greta Thunberg ... again

It would seem that getting the message across to those people in denial is a wasted effort.

Thankfully the importance and extreme urgency of taking action to do what older people can't, won't, or just don't understand let alone take action on is not falling on deaf ears in the younger generation especially those of her age group who recognise the greatest problem the whole world faces and will, just as the case of the huge debts we are leaving them to pay because of our selfish lifestyle, have to try to solve the astronomical environmental damage WE are leaving them with.

Future generations will not look favourably on what we are doing today especially as we continue to do it IN SPITE of being told how terrible it is.

You haven't considered that older people are more wiser than the easier influenced younger person looking for a cause to fight Todger.
You haven't even considered that you might be wrong.
And it's the same old story.....Each generation blames the one before....Such a cop out for the shortcomings of the next generation.

I suggest the young generation get their heads out of their smartphone screens and stop being influenced by all the so called experts on the internet and BBC. That is of course if they are serious about saving the world....

Project Fear Mk.2

I don't know how many times I need to explain this, but why are we regarding ourselves as the world's major polluter?

China, India, America, Germany and many others pollute far more than we do. Why is it all our fault?

In addition to that, there has always been climate change which is beyond human control. Whose fault was the Ice Age? Whose fault was the recession of the ice and global warming all those many centuries ago?

No. Greta, Extinction Rebellion and all the others cut no ice with me. Let them complain 'til they're blue in the face.

Let's have more electric cars and find ourselves with regular power cuts to compensate for the additional use of electricity!
