Hi

Here we go.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct...e_Organization

He has no axe to grind, but has warned us.

Leaving does not give us free rein to do what we want.

We are swapping the ECJ for the WTO Rules.

Thanks for that.

I see he is Brazilian, so presumably he is independent in thought and deed.

As for his 'warning', I see no problem with that. I would honestly expect to work within the WTO rules, but the important thing is that we will be free to agree our own fair trade agreements with countries all over the world, even the EU countries if they can bring themselves to trade with us for our mutual benefit.

Yes it is. Both are run by the members but the difference is that the EU has negotiated some 60 odd trade deals that we are currently party to. The WTO however is a last choice option that even the head of the organisation advises against

I'm sorry banchory. According to google:

One of the frequently mentioned objections to the WTO is its way of working, and in particular its 'consensus building'. This decision-making process is opaque and not democratic, critics say. The GATT also suffered from this criticism. In theory, all Member States have an equal voice. Although officially possible, voting has never occurred. The Member State that does not oppose a proposal during meetings is automatically deemed to be in favor.

This form of consensus building takes place outside of formal meetings, in the so-called 'back rooms'. This informal consultation is considered necessary inherent to the WTO and "takes the upper hand when time is running out or important decisions are made".

this working method is unheard of, in a democratic organisation like the EU. Bread quite rightly points out that the EU is a much more fair and honest working organisation than the wto. I think it very courageous of bread to aknowledge this, since in the past he was so opposed to the EU. I can only guess that he has seen the light.
