The first difficulty is what should be taken as an equivalent or even near equivalent point and on that I would be keen to take your input.
As a straw-man I'll suggest somewhere around the early 1930's.
That would mean that it was the mid 1980's when the dissolution of the USSR became inevitable.
Working on that basis Russia today should be of a similar state to America of 50 years ago when consumerism was on a very rapid rise and investments in stocks and shares were very much on the increase even for ordinary people, and actually that is within spitting distance from life in Russia today.
We have family living in Russia and last visited them two years past. To be honest given the choice of having to relocate to America or Russia it would be a no-brainer and it would NOT be to America.
Well you have the advantage of me Todgy with your prsonal
experience of Russia!
Did you travel much while you were there, or were you
static? I ask because both countries are very large and
conditions could vary greatly depending on where you are?
As you know very well happens in a tiny country like uk even.
Did you speak to a large cross section of the population?
These questions apply to both countries!
Most people l know who have come back from usa have
been impressed by it, but lm not sure if those people asked
Questions of the locals while they were there!
However it would be interesting to hear further comparisons
of the two countries from you?
