New Government Getting Tough on Crime

At last. At least they say they will. Sentences for violence will not be automatically halved as happens so often. And they want to make criminals afraid of the police.

But as so often is the case Lefties are opposed to this approach (the prisons don't work and cost to much crowed). Claiming we should achieve a utopia where everyone is nice and law abiding instead.

Forgetting that is a laudable aim but in the mean time firm action has to be taken, while working towards that utopia.

Re: New Government Getting Tough on Crime

There lies the rub. We are swamped with spineless, Liberal Luvvies who ensure they are listened to by the craven rest of society. We desperately need someone in the vein of the USA former Mayor Guiliani. He became the bane of organised crime, which is exactly what we are dealing with here in our cities.
These vile people are even using children under the age of 13 to carry drugs for them.

If Boris is truly genuine intending to come down hard on soft prison sentencing, then good for him. Next, deal with the crappy Justice system the prosecution service and our Police numbers. Get policemen back out onto the streets. Arm them if necessary, why should our police force be the only one in the whole world that are unarmed in this day and age.

Until criminals become afraid, nothing will ever change. We need to have street coppers again so we can have stoolies again. They will never get to do anything being two by two in a car! never meeting anyone unless it is confrontational. They need to befriend the public, the public need to be reassured. To start with, get rid of these useless, unnecessary Police Commissioners and spend their generous salaries on front-line policing. Put policemen who have worked their way up through the ranks, in charge. Not these university, figure-crossing idiots who have agreed with the new order that every new policeman or woman must have a degree! God help us!

We need urgent change because crime has gone through the roof and trust in the police plummeted, which is a shame as frontlne police do the best they can with the resources they have been given.

Tbh, I don't even have any respect for the normal cops on the street these days. Especially when you see them dancing, laughing and acting like dicks with the recent climate protesters in London who were causing havoc to the public.

They need to get serious. They can befriend the public by stop acting like idiots and nicking some crims.

I agree, but we have been too soft for too long I want people to be so afraid of their punishment that they tremble when they hear what it is.
I want punishments to be so harsh that they never want to go through them again.
As long as we accommodate them in secure guest houses with some entertainment, they will get used to it and have no fear of returning when they get caught again.
If we don't, we will never stop this increase in crime, or the violent attacks!

What they should do is the sentence imposed, is the sentence you serve - no ifs or buts.
Then ADD time for bad behaviour. For example, attack a prison guard = add 1 year etc. Might make them think?

I've heard that in certain parts of the world the cops pick up baddies, take them back to the cop shop, give them a good kicking, throw them out at dawn.

I wonder if that would work here.

Truth is, it may well do.
