Re: decision time.

Mine only bark in the car if I am driving backwards, my husband reckons that's them expressing their fear of my driving

Tsk! My dog hides in the footwell, he knows better than to comment, plus he's too short to see out of the window.

Re: decision time.

It is a legal requirement that a dog must be restrained away from the driver

Aw c'mon realspeed, didn't you find it even the teensiest bit funny!
I found it a lot funny!

There's actually a very good explanation for this.
She's taking the pup to the vet.
He's taking him out for a car ride, and maybe even to the park.
Solved!

I love Weimaraners!

Re: decision time.

I'm with Realspeed on this one.

Otherwise responsible, law-abiding pet-owners seem so often so prepared to throw it all out the window when it comes to 'their' animals.
Even if it puts humans at risk.
An unrestrained dog (cat, bird whatever) in a moving car - sudden emergency - braking - dog in your lap (or face)- driver totally distracted - pedestrian kid dies.
It happens.

Re: decision time.

As the owner of 3 large dogs, I know it happens.
And as a responsible owner, our dogs are restrained in the vehicle.

Our dogs always poke their heads between the seats in the truck, (seat is up) just like the dog in the picture. That's as far as they can go though.
Don't automatically assume a dog is not harnessed/restrained!

We have harnesses similar to this.

This thread was meant as fun, which is how I took it anyway.
So again, I found it a lot funny!
