Yes there is.
The weight of a given quantity of a liquid depends on the specific gravity of the liquid.
The specific gravity of a liquid is the ratio of the density of the liquid - to the density of water at 4 deg C.
That is why most oil floats on water, it has a lower specific gravity and (as an example often used) carbon tet sinks because it has an SG of around 1.6.
