I had some Japanese Quail which laid eggs every day, I had piles of them & decided to incubate them.
THe children loved the little chicks, wet & ragged drying out into fluffy "bumble bees" running around feeding within hours
Belated reply Robert Jnr, Silkies are super little birds, I kept the whites, golds and lavenders - lovely. I had a few Orpingtons too, quite similar to the Cochins if I remember. Never had any Scots Dumpies though.
One of my peacocks was a pure white one called Eric who looked magnificent when he displayed his tail, a bit like snowy pampas grass blowing in the wind - beautiful. Aaahh, how I miss that life.
