Nobody else does, they spend theirs. It's not state organised charity either it's a system we all pay into according to our earnings. So it's only fair that the system works for everyone not just people that don't save

Chances are I wouldn't claim anything (I never have) but firstly, peoples property and wealth is their own as is their choices.

Fine, but when they have needs they should use their own resources before getting any state organised charity - for that is precisely what it is.

We are obliged to donate to it by law but it is is then given to people that the State views as being in need (what a laugh that is in most cases) which means that is is charity. What a farce.

There is a difference between charity and tax Todgy, charity is
given freely with a good heart, tax is enforced by law!

Yep exactly, DM which is why I referenced "choice" in my earlier post. With taxation you have no choice (the government spends it on your behalf), where altruism gives you that choice on not just how much is given but exactly who to.

Just to be clear. Hypothetical situation.
You and I have similar incomes.
I spend all of my money.
You save some of yours.
We both lose our jobs.
I get benefits immediately.
You have to spend your savings before getting any benefits.
And you would be happy with that?

Actually, yes. Y'see I would not want other people paying for anything for me if I was able to pay for it myself.

Apart from anything else it would not leave me feeling that I was behoove to anyone.

But when part of that tax is used as a "Benefit" it becomes a legally enforced charity.

You seem to be very obtuse lately Todger!
The minute you force people to pay it ceases to be charity, a concept
that you seem to have a problem with comprehending??

That word "benefit" is equivalent to "entitlement"
