I like all those places that I've been to, there are a few I haven't been to though.

Re: The Times Best Places to Live 2019

No matter what papers, surveys, TV, radio says I would not want to live anywhere else, Apart from my eight years in His Majety,s army I have lived here and have no intentions of moving. Yes, there are more beautiful and probably more interesting places in this country but I am here and here I stay

Re: The Times Best Places to Live 2019

Is this restricted to the UK?..I lived in Bayswater in London. So I guess I just say..London. I had a good time there. Does that count? Otherwise, no offence but my very favourite places to live in the whole world are not in the the UK. IT's very pretty and historic with it's umpteen cute villages and towns and all else for sure. I have family there and despite the convict jokes (yawn) the people are usually pretty nice. Families are close and look out for each other which I like. The weather is OK sometimes. I don't mind some chilly days but it's just too cold in winter. Sydney, Melbourne, Perth or San Francisco are my faves. Pretty prosaic I know but that's that. Or..maybe Lyon in France at a pinch. Gorgeous city.

Bury St Edmunds??? Seriously?!

Anywhere in Wales is pretty good IMO or Derbyshire.

Oh he's dead alright continual speculation about exactly where he's buried which keeps the tourists interested. It's the town of my birth and we live about fifteen miles away now.

There was a time when I would have thought it desirable but sadly (like so many places today) the population has expanded rapidly, drink and drugs are the usual problems, traffic congestion is sometimes horrific, and the snowflakes are every where

Like others above I am not moving from here and apart from essential business visits I wouldn't go into Bury St. Edmunds for any type of 'leisure' visit now

As the OP said these 'surveys' are usually a hidden form of advertising and don't really mean anything
