To me shopping is a necessity not a pleasure.

Exactly! I have to shop for food to live, I don't live to shop!

Re: Will you be going shopping today?

I have reached the stage in life where I have just about all the things I need - and want, for that matter
I have cupboards & drawers full of clothes, tools, camping gear, stuff for hobbies, and so on
Apart from food and other consumables I hardly buy anything now, except perhaps a few books from Amazon, and they're Used

I would have said that I have all the pots & pans I need, but as I've been doing more cooking during the Lockdown I've realised that my frying pans are getting rather scruffy, and have lost their non - stick - ness
So I'll be buying one or two new frying pans
Actually, I no longer do serious or proper frying in lots of fat or oil, it's more like sweating food in the minimum of fat
So I'm thinking of something like frying pans with lids, or a sauteuse

TKMaxx is within walking distance for me; they have a reasonable selection, so I'll go there and combine it with my exercise walk along the canal and quiet streets
But I certainly won't be just browsing round the shops just for the sake of it

All I want is my local pool to re-open, my joints are getting so sore now. Sorry all you shopping lovers BUT, needs must and fixing pain comes before shopping in my life.

I won't be shopping today, or all this week - I imagine it will be far too busy anyway and I refuse to get in a long queue. Shopping has little attraction for me these days anyway.

Re: Will you be going shopping today?

The thing, depending on who you ask, the consensus seems to be that people are out shopping to browse!! NO no and NO. Staff at the shops are telling customers they are not to touch items unless they plan to buy, you are not allowed to browse and walk out not buying anything, that is not why the shops are open.

I mean my gawd, have you seen pictures from the media, some shops have half a mile queues!!! it's ridiculous.

Petition launched against reopening of Bicester Village as hundreds turn up to shop

People did not appear to be following social distancing measures

https://metro.co.uk/2020/06/15/thous...shop-12856331/

More than 2,400 people have signed a petition calling for Bicester Village to close after hundreds of eager shoppers crowded into the centre today. The designer retail outlet joined thousands of shops in re-opening their doors to the public today after the government finally gave them the green light. Customers were urged to adhere to social distancing measures, which still require people to remain at least two metres away from anyone not in their household. However, the photos from Bicester Village, in Oxfordshire, showed groups of people standing close together as they waited to get inside shops. They were then shared on social media with many expressing their anger that they are still unable to hug loved ones while others ‘queue for hours to get a Gucci bag’.
Perhaps I'm overly pessimistic and there isn't going to be a "second wave" .....

Looking at the photographs of people herded together in shopping centres risking catching C19 without a second thought makes me think those who are on furlough should be at work.
