Windows 10 Cumulative Updates KB4565503 & KB4565483 Released

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/new...5483-released/

The July 2020 Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 10 version 2004 and later are now rolling out and you can download and install the latest security fixes by checking for updates in the Settings.

Like every Patch Tuesday release, the cumulative update comes with security fixes and general bug fixes, and the patch is rolling out to PCs with May 2020 Update, November 2019 Update, May 2019 Update and later.

In the latest cumulative update for Windows 10 version 2004, version 1909 and version 1903, Microsoft says it has resolved an issue that might cause lsass.exe to fail with the error message, “A critical system process, C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe, failed with status code c0000008. The machine must now be restarted."

As usual, there are security enhancements for Microsoft Store, classic Microsoft Edge browser, Microsoft Store, core components and other basic functions.
No problems (so far) with this update ..... but the "Restarting" message seem to last forever (actually 10-15 mins) and I was tempted to power OFF/ON to terminate what seemed to be a disc loop ..... it's a good job I didn't .....

No problems for me on the AMD with SSD run Lenovo lappy. Downloaded swiftly and the restart was very quick to clear from the screen.

Re: Windows 10 Cumulative Updates KB4565503 & KB4565483 Released

Everything is OK on the two W.10 computers that have had the update. A couple more to go.

One extra step I noticed with this update. It gave the message that it was 'cleaning up'. I don't think I've had that one before. It might have been to do with the Windows.old folder being deleted. I read this happens a month after a major update. If that's what's meant by 'cleaning up', I suppose that would take quite a time.

It didn't take very long in my case because I'd already deleted the folder using Windows 'Clean up system files' shortly after updating to version 2004.

I think you're right - I noticed "cleaning" on my first update but not on the second .....

Oh yes, I always advise removing all download footprints from the :C drive, or it all adds up to clog the system. Follow that with a defrag and you will keep your 'puter fast and clutter free.

Re: Windows 10 Cumulative Updates KB4565503 & KB4565483 Released

An update sneaked on to my PC last night because I put my computer to sleep rather than shut it down as I normally do.

Whatever it was, it knackered my Outlook once again. An update did something similar a while back making me having to install it from scratch having to buy a new licence for it first.

This time, fortunately, I'd only just done a disc-image so was able to re-install everything but still had to bugger about with my imap folders in Gmail to get them to sync with Outlook.

Checking the update section in Control Panel, it's wanting me to download and install a Net Framework update. I'm assuming that this is what caused my problems in the first place.

I often have a look around when problems are mentioned to see if it's a general one or if it's only happening to an individual system. Not to say there aren't other reports of this one but if there are, I haven't found them yet.

I remember a while back, there were some inexpensive copies of MS Office on Ebay and you had bought one? Sorry if that's wrong but if so, I wonder if it might be to do with that?

If not already done, maybe turning off the option to 'Receive updates for other Microsoft products when you update Windows' in Windows Update's advanced settings might prevent Outlook being changed.

I have MS Office 2016, too.

I don't use Outlook but I've just loaded it OK.
