Re: Christmas cake

I no longer make a Christmas Cake and I don't celebrate Christmas .
I do make Christmas puddings for the family but not this year, I have one left from last year which is full of Cognac so it should be fine.

I make loads of mincemeat my grandchildren love mince pies.

Re: Christmas cake

I used to make three Christmas cakes every year for my family. For the first time last year I didn't make any as everyone as appears to have lost their sweet tooth .... except Mr Mags and I'm not making one for him just to raise his cholesterol

Our granddaughter (16) makes them now .... and very good there are too!

I make 5 dozen mince pies every year .... a big favourite here

Re: Christmas cake

Oooh - Christmas cake and Wensleydale cheese - heaven !!

The recipe I use was originally used for my grandmother's wedding cake - it is rich but not overly sweet.

Re: Christmas cake

I love a good cake but not having a sweet tooth I always give the marzipan and icing away.
