You're Only As Old As You Feel?

Tonight I feel about 100 years old, after another lengthy session trying to talk to the local Medical Centre.

However, I think we all have different age feelings depending on what we are doing.

How about you?

In my case, when the great Grandchildren are here, and playing in the garden, I feel about 20 years old.

When I'm slogging 5 or 6 miles round a golf course I feel about 60.

When I'm arguing with the Daughters, I feel about 90.

The point I'm making is that we seem able to exist in different age brackets.

Why can't we arrange to stick in one or two of them?

... and I sometimes wonder what we/me must look like to others. Why do I get called "sir" nowadays when it used to be "mate"? Why are youngsters offering me a seat on a bus?

Ted, I can honestly say I never think about feeling an 'age', I sort of just 'am' rather than 'am' 'at an age' when I'm doing something .

If you can understand that.... what age are you feeling now?

I never feel old - even if I'm tired or in pain.

I just don't!

Nor do l, Carol. I never feel any different to what l felt years ago.
It’s just what happens in life, some feel it, some don’t!
I think not slogging, doing endless housework helps. If l do loads of housework, l look and feel about a 100!

Mentally I don’t feel old, it’s just the old bones that do.

The only time I feel older is when I try to do something that at times
takes considerably longer than it ever used to!

I generally feel I'm in my mid-20's "inside my head" and I tend to treat others the same way. It seems to work well.

Re: You're Only As Old As You Feel?

A couple of months ago, I dropped something while queuing up at the checkout of my local coop. The person behind me immediately said "let me help you". All very kind, to be sure, but at that point in time it becam immediately clear that I am now viewed as old and decrepit.
