If that was true, how come 118 Tory MPs voted against Mrs May's Brexit deal? It looks like the whips are about as threatening as a three-legged hamster.

You have a point there. Legally there is a difference, politically it's the same.

Re: Death Of Democracy

The rubicon has been crossed, the danger of too much interference, and losing their tradition of independence. A politicised judiciary weakened.

Re: Death Of Democracy

This is one for Solasch.

How much do you pay for compulsory basic health insurance ? Not including dental, physios etc. and the same even if unemployed ?

How many hospitals have shut down and are families asked to look after their parents due to no care being available ?

How many food banks do you have ?

Will Holland have to double their payments to EU once UK leave ?

That proves my point then. MPs ignored the whips, and voted according to their own views, and/or those of (at least some of) the electorate, many of whom also seem to think May's deal was ordure.

The monthly fee is about € 100 (approx. 89 £). Depending on income you get reimbursed up to €85 (£73). If unemployed it is £ 16/month

Unknown officially, but increasing due to facilities closed.

Food banks 168 on approx 400 municipalities

No, if divided evenly over the remaining 27 members, we would have to pay 400 mln on top of the present 5 bn. So an 10% increase.

As I understand, health insurance can be a lot more and it doesn't cover any extras like I mentioned .

Food banks have 85,000 people use them at last count and rising

Two hospitals closed last year due to bankruptcy.

So really,

Holland faces the same issues as UK, although on a smaller scale, as your population is only 17 million, compared to UK's 67 million (which seems to be going up at an incredible rate.)

In fact ,so many countries are all bound by the same rules and agendas now, I wonder where the origin of the changes filter through from.. ? Well we do know, and that is why we UK don't want to be the same as everyone else, or virtually bankrupt like Greece, Spain and Italy , and I'm sure you can understand why.
