All this is theory overtaken by reality. If the EU is to take any decision on a deal, the UK has to present equivalent alternatives to the backstop. Before a decision can be taken at the summit midoctober the 27 govrrnments have to agree with the alternatives presented by boris.
In effect, that is impossible, especially in view of the fact that boris still has to present any proposal on the matter.
So forget a deal, prepare for boris asking an extension.
OR
Boris will resign by october 19 and leave it to others to request an extension. In the ensueing GE boris will win/lose?
