Brexit or not, the CFP has been a complete disaster for British fisheries, British fishermen, conservation and nature.

Banks is absolutely on the money - I'm a member of Fishing for Leave and have continued to it for years. If you like fish, if you like Britain and you like conservation then join it.

I dont like the way that the fisheries issues keep getting
sidelined and get very little coverage in the media or indeed
in parliament either?
We have not been explicit enough with EU over this matter
and run the risk of it being left till last if we ever get to
negotiations? I am now firmly in favour of a no deal as l see
no prospect of getting treated decently whilst still being under
Brussells thrall! WE actually have the advantage once we are
out, untill then we are at the mercy of the EU propaganda and
our own propaganda machines ??

With them all the way, they have been treated dreadfully for years entire communities ignored so politicians can get their snouts in the trough of the EU coffers.

Every leave-voter that is still of that persuasion will agree with him. Little news in that respect.

We dont seem to have anybody representing the the fishing
interests of uk Julie?
Perhaps Aaron Banks is the the first sign of a bloc forming?
It will be sorely needed if we get dragged through the
treacherous waters of a negotiation!
No deal is now the only option for uk to get treated fairly and
to cut short any extensive, expensive delays to exit!
Deals will happen AFTER exit, if they dont the uk will be
better off by a few billion!! Cant be bad eh?

Couldn't agree more, Julie. The CFP has decimated coastal towns, destroyed our fishing industry and caused immense damage to our fish stocks.

Check out the Fish Fight Campaign with Hugh Fearnley Whitingstall (of River Cottage fame) and how the EU ignored the votes of thousands and thousands of UK fishermen, the general public and conservationists who wanted to change their abhorrent quota based CFP. The EU wouldn't even talk to them...

Conservation and climate change are always front page news now and what is the EU doing about changing the CFP ? Nothing ...time and time again tonnes and tonnes of fish are thrown overboard, dead in favour of more profitable fish being caught and landed instead. This happens every day, over and over again so that in some years, more whiting (for example) has been put back dead in the sea than actually landed. How is that good for the environment and marine conservation ???

So let's take back control of our own territorial waters and sort out our fishing industry, marine conservation and coastal towns once and for all, starting on 1st November 2019.

Check out information by June Mummery (Brexit Party MEP) who has been part of the Lowestoft Fish Market Alliance and a real heavyweight in the fight to take back our territorial waters. No career politician here - MEP June Mummery has years and years experience and really knows her stuff.

Get involved people !

If for every percent of british economy a representative should go to brussels to negotiate, a hundred would go. And just one would be reoresenting fisheries.....

A*Commons research library*briefing reckons the UK's fishing and fish processing industries employ a total of 24,000 people, and contribute £1.4bn to the UK economy.

Yes, that's a lot of jobs and a lot of money. But it's a drop in the ocean when you consider that it's 0.12% of the overall economy, and less than 0.1% of the 33 million strong national workforce.

In terms of economic impact (measured by gross value added, or GVA), the*timber industry*has similar heft.
