Yes, that's a lot of jobs and a lot of money. But it's a drop in the ocean when you consider that it's 0.12% of the overall economy, and less than 0.1% of the 33 million strong national workforce.

In terms of economic impact (measured by gross value added, or GVA), the*timber industry*has similar heft.

The figures you quote Solly are the present figures!
The figures that count are the figures before the CFP was
imposed on uk!
Prhaps you can oblige by supplying some??
You seem to have figures at your fingertips??

Just change all the quotas to :

UK Cod = 100%
UK Bass = 100%
UK Sole = 100%
etc

and ...

EU Cod = 0%
EU Bass = 0%
EU Sole = 0%

and ...

Access to UK fish stocks in UK territorial waters by UK = 100%
Access to UK fish stocks in UK territorial waters by EU = 0%

That looks better

The same discussion has taken place on this forum before. With your own participation. In juli you yourself started a thread on it (hunt to help fishing industries??). Swimfeeders has supplied an abundance of figures.
If you now still persist in your original opinion, giving facts to you has no point. Look up the original thread(s) and try to benefit from them.

They could have given them for free to one or more foodbanks? Or were the fish a species not consumed by brits?

Welcome to my world Julie - your outrage is more than justified.

This happens day after day, year on year. It's disgusting - all because of EU quotas.....

No Solly, l want YOU to state them yourself in order to
reinforce it in your brain without using links etc?
You mention quotas all the time! But pre CFP days we had
no quotas imposed upon us at all, we were self regulated!
WE had the entire benefit of OUR labours?
As opposed to now??
That you WONT give the relevant figures speaks volumes!!
