Re: Donald Tusk... tut tut tut

It's funny when you compare the two countries on the ec.europa.eu site. The Uk has huge committed funding but recipients estimated amounts are tiny. But for Poland the committed funds and recipients values are the same. For France most are identical. You look at other countries and the UK is an outlier in not being able to apply committed funding. Something very wrong seems to be happening at this end. We are granted money but we seem to be the only eu country with such a disorganised process for getting the funding to the places that need it. Why doesn't this surprise me....

Hi

Polish contribution to the EU budget as % of its GNI: 0.68 %

The UK’s Contribution to the EU budget as % of its GNI: 0.46%

In other words , they pay in a bigger % of their earnings than we do.

They can afford changes to their Pensions etc, they are highly taxed.

Check out the cohesion fund. Not everything in the EU is on the books

It also gets about 15 billion net from the EU.

Considering the last labour government raided peoples pensions 3 times it seems a bit rich for receivers of uk tax payers money to be able to raise pensions over there. We should use our money on our own pensioners after all they've earned the right to their money.

The poles also receive money from funds. Earmarked funds for special targets. Some exclude the rich members (cohesion fund). But even the UK is a recipient of funds, e.g. european social fund, IPA, european regional development fund, EU solidarity fund. In total some £ 5.6 bn every year.
