Mr. Barnier does not speak for 27 countries, nor does he pretend to.

He can't say anything meaningful because he doesn't know what terms are going to be discussed.

He is merely confirming that as far as he knows, he will be rational. After all he is French...

As said its not all EU Countries who are being amiable towards us, whether they are or not makes little difference ,the decision has been made and Britain is divided in a mess, no one seems to know how to leave or what to do, people are still divided over the decision to leave. Who are we going to trade with , who will want to trade with tiny little Britain , what can we offer them when they have the choice of several other Countries to choose from
