Article 2.8
4. Where a Party grants a larger or faster tariff reduction, higher quota or any other more
favourable treatment than that provided for under this Agreement to a third country based on an
international agreement for goods covered by paragraph 3 which affects the balance in the European
Union's or Japan's market of such goods, the Parties shall, with a view to ensuring that the other
Party obtains at least the same preference, commence such a review within three months of the date
of entry into force of the international agreement between the European Union and that third
country or between Japan and that third country, and will conduct the review with the aim of
concluding it within six months of the same date.

It only asks for a review.

You're right; that's all it asks for.

Your talking out your arse - you don't know anything about this.

The aim of the review is to see if areas of a new trade deal would be beneficial to others. If they aren't then they can be excluded.

What your saying is effectively all our future trade deals have to be the same as the one we have with Japan.

Stop making things up

Re: UK and Japan Trade Deal Agreed

Whatever it asks for a review an update whatever the fact is we got the same or better trading terms as the EU which proves there was no advantage to being a member in this instance.. It will be interesting to see how future trade deals progress....i have a feeling other countries will be looking on wondering about that too..

Its even better and goes further than the EU one as well. It will also be finished, the EU one still has tarrifs until 2026.

Tariffs on cars will phase out till 2026, in both the UK and EU deals japan has. For hard cheeses in both deals tariffs phase out till 2035.

Obviously I have a better understanding of matters than you. It holds true for any trade deal you close with a country that has an earlier deal with the EU, and a similar clause as I quoted. Try to increase your knowledge a bit before you fob girls like summer of with your remarks.
