It seems that Canon no longer provide all driver updates.
That means that, if W10 keeps evolving, there comes an increasing chance of this sort of mismatch.
Should MS write it's updates to check all levels?
Do all Device makers send out updates?
Some Printer manufacturers get it right.
Those could be the ones who bother to get into the MS early update /insider channels.
MS are now saying the same.
i.e. "the problem occurs in some type 3 printer drivers, which are downloaded from the manufacturer's web sit, not type 4, which come with, or are installed by, Windows in updates"
apparently, you can check which type drivers you have, by looking in Print Management, Print Servers, where the type is stated.
It is up to the Printer Manufacturer, in my opinion, to make sure their products continue to match the requirements of MS Windows.
