So Hard To Find Decent Food

While perusing the shelves of our local Tesco for a full fat yoghurt, I kept reading the labels only to find; Low Fat, Fat Free or reduced fat. Right at the end of the shelf there were just two proper full fat yoghurts hiding behind the low fat 'Muller Rice'......

Later in the evening during the adverts half way through Coronation Street, an advert for Morrisons proudly boasted that they had increased their range of 'Gluten Free' products.

I suddenly realised that we have become such 'Picky' eaters, and it's getting increasingly difficult to find decent food these days that hasn't had something taken out!

We've got:-
Fat Free - Low or reduced sugar - Gluten Free - Lactose Free....
And the worse part is....you pay more for less!.....

As a child there was none of this Vegy Vegan nonsense (and countless other faddy fashion orientated diets) You had to eat what was put in front of you at mealtimes, and if you didn't like it, or didn't eat it, You went without until the next mealtime.....
And parents in restaurants asking their eight year old what they would like to eat is just plain stupid. How does an eight year old know what foods are most healthy and balanced.....

Re: So Hard To Find Decent Food

Gluten free is very important to anyone with an intolerance or worse still proper celiacs, what we need is proper food labeling so we all know what we are eating. I find it hard with allergies to find the information I need but I've never thought there were not enough choices or anyone should not be catered to if they need a specialist food type.

Tesco have their finest range all of those have cream in them so aren't low fat, they have other brands too that are not low fat.

I agree Foxy, it gets confusing for me too.
I get annoyed if I can't find full fat milk.
This reduced sugar is making most things so sour also.

Don't blame the stores. They will stock what customers will buy. If you want apportion blame, look no further than Joe Public.

It annoys me to, as if you pick up Low-Fat Yogurt, it doesn't mean its more healthy for you, because they laden it with sugar instead, so you might as well have the full fat yogurt in the first place.
