Not the best of days

Hi

A big trip yesterday to collect fish and corals.

I lost a fish on the way home,a stunning Coral Beauty, the first fish I have lost in Transit for over 40 years.

It is a very sad day.

What happened? I have no idea how to collect tropical fish.

I have collected plenty of pond fish, which are easy, just a bag with some oxygen and a sturdy container. How do you maintain the temperature when they are in transit?

I know how sad it is though when a fish dies in one's care.

Hi

No idea at all.

It was double bagged and in a polybox with the aircon on and set at 25.5 C.

All the other fish were fine.

That sounds odd doesn't it. Perhaps it just died of natural causes.

Surely it must have been unhealthy when they sold it, don't you think Swim?
Can't understand why a perfectly healthy fish would die before it even got home otherwise?

I know if one of my puppies had died before the new owners even got it home I would most certainly investigate.

I would think it probably was unhealthy Mups but I suppose it would be difficult to prove as there were no obvious signs of disease. They can die of shock when moved to a new environment but swim is obviously experienced in relocating them. I know some of my goldfish have died in the past from stroke. That's when the dreaded Heron wasn't around.
