discarded Dogfish

We went to Hastings this afternoon and on the beach were a lot of Dog fish (members of the shark family) discarded by the fishermen.

obviously caught in the nets but no commercial value ,so throw out for the gulls to finish off.

Don't like seeing it, I have to add

Re: discarded Dogfish

Used to be in our fish and chips shops and more expensive than cod or haddock. Used to buy it for the kids when they were little as there were so few bones in it. Haven't seen them in the shops though in years. Silly to throw them away when they are such a nice fish.

I agree & I miss it, I used to eat a lot of Rock because it had no bones, (I can't eat fish with bones), only a grissle strip through the fillet. It was very tasty. Shame it is no longer commercial.

Bull huss is a member of the shark family which is found predominantly around the southern and western coasts of the Britain. This fish is much less common than its close relative the dogfish

having checked that is a dog fish
